Trump Indictment Near?
The J-6 committee ended by issuing an unprecedented referral against a former US president. For the first time in American history, a congressional committee has issued 4 referrals to the US Justice Department for possible indictment and prosecution.
4 Laws Cited for possible Indictment:
Insurrection
Obstruction of an Official Proceeding
Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
Conspiracy to make a False statement to the Government
Today’s Wall Street Journal opinion section characterized this the Jan. 6 Inquiry’s Not-So-Grand Finale…
The Journal editors aptly framed what this means to us…they stated:
“In their crusade against Mr. Trump’s norm-breaking, Democrats and the press have too often broken norms themselves. They have also had too little trust in U.S. institutions to hold up against abuses and in voters to self-correct. An indictment on the current evidence would be seen as political, and it wouldn’t help the country get past Mr. Trump or Jan. 6. Instead it could plunge American democracy into a new and dangerous era.”
Yes, this is getting dangerous, indeed. As most people delve into what many call a “holiday spirit,” a different spirit is growing: a spirit of rebellion.
This is one additional step in the revolutionary climate developing in this country.
