Marxism and the Cultural Revolution

By Wanjiru Njoya, Mises Institute, December 21, 2024

It will not have escaped many people’s attention that one of the main strategies in America’s “reckoning on race and Southern identity” involves depicting the Confederate battle flag as a symbol of racial oppression…

Vilification of that battle flag and the Confederacy is part of the cultural revolution in America that flowered half a century ago. Among its goals was the demoralization of the American people by demonizing their past and poisoning their belief in their own history.

This cultural revolution—in which historical events are wielded as weapons in a contemporary culture war—has been described as a form of cultural Marxism. But progressives sneer at the very label, denying that there is an ongoing culture war. They argue that the destruction of Confederate monuments, desecration of Confederate graves, and banning of the Confederate battle flag are motivated purely by a belief in racial equality and a desire to promote what they often describe as “accurate, nuanced, and complete” history. They insist that there is no political or ideological agenda behind their interpretation of history… https://mises.org/mises-wire/marxism-and-cultural-revolution

There Were 436 Attacks on Churches Last Year, Joe Biden Didn’t Prosecute a Single One

By Ben Johnson, LifeNews.com, Dec 19, 2024

The Biden-Harris administration did not prosecute a single one of the hundreds of attacks against churches that took place last year under a 1994 law designed to protect houses of worship, a congressional hearing established on Wednesday, citing research from Family Research Council. Even as violence and vandalism against churches and pro-life centers skyrocketed over the last two years, 92% of Biden administration cases using that law targeted pro-life advocates…

“Unequal application of the law is not truly law; it is tyranny imposed on those [who] didn’t have the power by those who do have it. That’s contrary to everything we believe as Americans,” said subcommittee chairman Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas). The Democratic administration’s history of unequal prosecution and protection highlights the need for “permanent and fundamental reforms at the Department of Justice.” https://www.lifenews.com/2024/12/19/there-were-436-attacks-on-churches-last-year-joe-biden-didnt-prosecute-a-single-one/

UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting supporters may target police, courts

The Center for Internet Security noted ‘bipartisan support for the attack.’

By Josh Margolin, Aaron Katersky, Sasha Pezenik, and David Brennan, ABC News, December 15, 2024

Less than two weeks after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down on the streets of midtown Manhattan, his alleged assassin Luigi Mangione has been greeted not by universal condemnation for the brazen violence — but rather, a surge of enthusiastic support online for his so-called vigilante justice.

The Center for Internet Security (CIS), a nonprofit focused on cybersecurity that partners with government and law enforcement, released a new threat assessment bulletin warning that online support for the alleged shooter risks encouraging copycat attacks.

“Overwhelming bipartisan support for the attack” across social media “has resulted in several narratives encouraging similar violent activities directed at other healthcare executive teams,” CIS analysts said.

“The narratives supporting Mangione’s targeted attack likely serve to encourage like-minded individuals, particularly as Mangione continues to be viewed by the public as an ‘American hero’ and sympathetic figure,” CIS’ bulletin said.

Threats, it added, are “likely to emanate from individuals motivated by personal grievances, sociopolitical or ideological views, or in response to contentious high-profile cases, such as the recent death of Thompson…” https://abcnews.go.com/US/unitedhealthcare-ceo-shooting-supporters-target-police-courts-analysts/story?id=116801130

Healthcare Executive ‘Wanted’ Posters Pop Up Around N.Y.C.: ‘CEOs Should Not Feel Safe’

By Blake Wolf, OAN Staff, December 11, 2024

The posters also featured the words “DENY…DEFEND…DEPOSE,” which were the three words engrained on the bullets shot by the suspected gunman, Luigi Mangione, who murdered Thompson outside of a Midtown hotel last week.

Thompson’s photo was crossed out in a red “X” on scaffolding in Lower Manhattan… https://www.oann.com/newsroom/healthcare-executive-wanted-posters-pop-up-around-n-y-c-ceos-should-not-feel-safe/

Where’s Antifa?

By Mike McDaniel, American Thinker, November 30, 2024

Another mysterious fading, and likely temporary, disappearance is Antifa. Black Lives Matter has long been exposed as a money-grubbing scam, and with the impending death of DEI, CRT and wokeness in general, we’re not likely to hear a great deal more from them. But anarchistic nihilists like Antifa don’t vanish. They hide under rocks until they sense the opportunity to destroy. So why didn’t they reprise the 2020 “Summer of love” when Trump won?…

When they sense advantage, Antifa will be back, but this time they’ll be joined by thousands of foreign terrorists let into the country by Biden’s handlers. Thousands of members of the Chinese military and intelligence will join in, but not in pedestrian street protests. They’ll sabotage water and power systems, do cyber warfare and targeted assassinations. They’ll probably also engage in biowarfare…

For a prophetic glimpse of this possible future, pick up a copy of Kurt Schlichter’s The Attack. It provides a sobering, and all too probable, look at what our enemies, foreign and domestic, have in store for America.

Among Schlichter’s predictions is terror attacks by foreign enemies, joined by American anarchists, many coming from our “elite” universities. He also predicts such attacks will cause America to get serious about handing out final justice to terrorists. This too may become a certainty if blood surpassing the 9-11 death toll runs in America’s streets…https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2024/11/where_s_antifa.html

The Sermon That Laid the Groundwork for the American Revolution

By Michael Boldin, November 30, 2024

“Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.”

Just after the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776, a committee of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin worked to design a great seal for the United States – and it included that powerful phrase on the reverse.

While we don’t know who originally wrote it, we can closely trace its roots to the ideological groundwork laid by Jonathan Mayhew in his widely-read, but mostly forgotten, 1750 sermon on resisting tyranny.

Preceding the War for Independence by decades, Mayhew challenged the traditional notion of blind obedience to authority, basing his argument on both scripture and reason. His ideas not only shaped the ideological foundation for resistance to British rule, but also laid the groundwork for broader principles of liberty and self-government.

Resistance to Tyranny: A Moral Duty

Mayhew began by dismantling the argument that submission to government is an unconditional duty. Instead, he argued that rulers hold their authority solely when acting within the limits of the powers entrusted to them.

He pointed out that obedience is owed only when government acts justly and within its lawful bounds. However, when rulers abandon these limits and exercise power contrary to the people’s rights and liberties, obedience not only ceases to be required – it becomes a moral obligation to resist…

As the Declaration of Independence later affirmed, “whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it.”

Jonathan Mayhew’s arguments against blind obedience to authority and his call for active resistance to oppression remain as relevant today as they were in 1750. https://granitegrok.com/national/2024/11/the-sermon-that-laid-the-groundwork-for-the-american-revolution
