#2: You Say You Want a Revolution: A Compelling & Cautionary Tale of What Lies Ahead

This post explains my inspiration to write this book.

Its genesis stems from the summer of 2020. Watching the happenings of this volatile “summer of love” hearkened me back to my 2009 book Terrorism & Public Safety Policing. The events playing out in that “hot” summer were among the underlying assumptions—and predictions—asserted in this book more than a decade ago.

WOKISM & RACISM

Over the subsequent months, I wrestled with whether to wade back into the fray. The idea of getting back into the mix, admittingly was (and is) with a bit of unease. Why would one want to delve into the racial & WOKE cauldron that seems to permeate every facet of contemporary America? Why invite the inevitable accusations of racism and hatred?

Yet, seeing many good people step forward into this racial and political cesspool, gave me strength and hope. If they have the courage to do so, why not me? Seeing others stepping out in faith, gave me hope that this quest is not in vain, or at least, not without like-minded allies. This is an ideological civil war—or at least, intellectual combat for hearts and minds. This is what I saw coming in 2009. We are now much farther down a dangerous path…

BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING

What inspired me to come back into the public safety and public policy arena is that a ground swell of people seeing something is wrong, that big things are happening. Having no illusion that I can change the course of events in this country; yet my desire is to educate, to support, and to help whoever I can touch. Being in the “persuasion industry” for many years, as an attorney, professor, consultant, and expert witness, I understand my voice is limited. This limitation is acknowledged and accepted.

With this realization is another. No one can help unless they try. Standing on the “sidelines” watching the inevitable deterioration, even destruction, of a people and country I love was something my conscience would not allow.

In short, we are on a collision course. Writing this book was my attempt to show those who care what is happening, why it’s happening, and what we can do about it. Going forward, I will flesh out these questions, provide some poignant excerpts from the book and explain the overall approach. Stay tuned. There is more to come…!
